Monica Joy

Monica Joy (they/them) is a trans nonbinary, queer emerging artist residing in Treaty 6 Township, "London, ON". They are alumni of the Bealart Program, and have been a resident artist working out of Good Sport Gallery since 2020. Their artistic practice aims to work collaboratively with their community, focusing on growth, (co)dependency, and connection in media such as drawing, photography, ceramics, and installation.

In my artistic practice I consider the complexity of guilt/shame culture, alongside the simultaneous normalization and acceptance of habitual patterns and pleasures. My work explores themes of valuing love and connection, with a dependency on technology as an accessible platform for such.
