Featuring 9 artists working in a variety of media, softcraft is an exhibition that explores the intersections between radical softness, witchcraft, and self-care.

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”

–Audre Lorde

“Softness is powerful. It is about healing. It is about inner-strength. And strength means standing up for yourself. It is not about forced passivity.”

–Lora Mathis

“A witch is a survivor and witchcraft is a means of survival in a world that does not always value your life.”

–Anne Theriualt

Good Sport is pleased to host Performing a Ritual, a spellcasting circle in conjunction with the softcraft exhibition, from 7-9pm on August 7, the night of the full moon. The objectives of this participatory piece are to use collective energy to strengthen individual agency, and find the power in allowing oneself to be vulnerable in a group. It will be facilitated by exhibition co-curator Megan Arnold. Self-identifying witches and non-witches alike are welcome to participate, and are asked to come prepared with a small object and a spell in mind.

Curated by: Megan Arnold and Taylor Doyle
Facilitated by: Allyson Proulx
